Medical Information Manager

Job Description

  1. Facilitate the set-up of a comprehensive medical information system involving reference papers and texts that are cross-referenced on a database that is accessible to everyone that requires the information. Ensure that the systems for medical information are streamlined eg standard procedures, prepared letters for commonly asked questions.
  2. Work closely with the Marketing Associates and Medical Director to ensure that all company promotional literature follows the guidance offered by the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct.
  3. Identify who the customers of the medical information service are and determine if the current system is meeting their needs. Recommend and implement necessary strategies to meet and exceed the needs of these customers.
  4. Ensure that information reflects current understanding and is maintained in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  5. Ensure that sufficient data is recorded (eg doctor, pharmacist, patient, product, question) so that customer segments can be identified and analysed.
  6. Conduct training sessions for staff so that they can gain optimal use from the Information Services. These sessions should focus on accessing the information, feeding back local information into a central database, and the importance of timely and accurate delivery of information as a competitive advantage.
  7. Ensure that information required by the planning function is available in a timely and appropriate manner. Such information may include: patient recruitment status, trial progress, competitor clinical trial activity, current treatments for the particular disease, changes in the management strategies of patients, and relevant clinical papers.
