Interview Guide

Discuss the following areas and add new categories relevant to the position being applied for:

  • Current job responsibilities
  • Motivation – what motivates you and why do you want the job.
  • Team involvement – examples of working collaboratively in teams, team communication, conflict resolution, working together towards common goals.
  • Examples showing initiative

Use the following framework to discuss specific projects that you have worked on or relevant organisational issues:

  • SITUATION – describe the situation
  • ACTION – what were your actions
  • RESULT – what was the specific result of your action

Examples could include:

Marketing Manager

SITUATION

The situation was that a new product had to be introduced into a difficult market place. The product was expensive and only effective in 30% of the population.

ACTION

The action that I specifically took was to set up a task force of key opinion leaders.

The brief for the task force was to focus on: the role for the product in Australia presently, the future role of the product and to consider how to educate other doctors of the clinical and economic importance of a 30% response rate.

RESULT

The results of this were clinical protocols and strategies for the product, combination therapies and new delivery devices, and a market share of 64%.
