Health Economics Manager

Job Description

  1. Prepare health economic submissions to support PBS listing, hospital formulary submission, tender submission, and applications for new indications, line extensions, new pack sizes, new formulations, and price increases.
  2. Design health economics models that incorporate epidemiological data and reflect the key elements of the clinical management process and then use modeling to relate clinical trial endpoints to subsequent events and to determine the efficacy necessary to justify the product’s price.
  3. Assist in the early planning of the clinical trial programme, suggesting any disease relevant health status questionnaires, so that substantial and superior cost-effectiveness data is generated in order to pursue the best possible PBS price.
  4. Evaluate all clinical trial data and determine whether the available data would support a successful PBS submission, or whether additional clinical work is required.
  5. Conduct planning workshops with key opinion leaders to determine the appropriate clinical endpoints and outcome measures and disease specific quality of life questionnaires for incorporation in the companies clinical trial programme.
  6. Liaise with the Medicines Australia, reimbursement authorities and external consultants to ensure that the company is regarded as a leader in providing quality Health Economics submissions and policy input.
  7. Form collaborative relationships with health economic professionals both in Australia and globally.
  8. Monitor changes in the external environment (regulatory/reimbursement changes, managed care arrangements) and advise senior management on threats and opportunities with suggested action plans.
  9. Work with sales and marketing to develop health economics and cost effectiveness arguments into interactive computer programmes and other promotional tools for sales representative use.
  10. Form the necessary alliances with corporate head office colleagues and ensure that any Australian specific requirements are included in global protocols.
